I just wanted you all to know about the situation here in
Haiti. You know how in the past few weeks there have been many
hurricanes that have hit the country destroying many places, but
some worse than others. Gonaives,
Fond Verette, Hinche, Akaye. In these places many people
have died, are homeless, and own nothing. The situation is very
difficult.
As for Gonaives, it
keeps raining and the water never dries or goes down. This
evening it rained again and the water rose. And to add to their already
devastating situation, people are beginning to get infections
from the stagnate water. So as for them their situation is
exceptionally difficult because of the water that is so high.
In Fond Verette, 90% of
the peoples' houses
have been washed away by the wind and rain and no reconstruction
has begun to happen so far.
In Hinche many people
are living on the streets or in schools because the water washed
away their houses, gardens and animals.
In Akaye the houses are
full of water and the city stinks because of it. Many people
have died and disappeared completely because their
bodies can't be found.
So if there is anyone who wants to help with any construction to
rebuild houses, or help by sending money, clothes, food or
whatever to any of these areas, it would be a great blessing for
us. Many of the people who we are helping are Christians,
but there are many who aren't
as well. But what is
important and what is our duty as children of God
is to help all mankind whether they believe
or not. So if you desire to help in any way, please contact
Lloyd and Darlene Smoker and they will help you know what to
do.
Thank you in advance for your understanding. The help you give
will be a blessing to you who give and to those who receive, but
there is greater blessings to those who give. God bless you.
